ELK GARDEN, W.Va. (WV News) – Christmas came early as the Town of Kitzmiller donated 14 Christmas lights for Elk Garden to place on its light poles for the holidays.
Earlier this year, Brandi Paugh expressed an interest in getting Christmas lights for the town, but looking at costs it just wasn’t feasible for the town to purchase the holiday decorations.
As a resident, she was contemplating having a fundraising dinner to fund the outdoor lighting, but her wish came true when Kitzmiller donated its working lights to spread holiday cheer.
Six of the decorations are set to be placed on Route 42 through town this year and as funds become available to connect additional poles they will be extended down Shadyside.
It will cost an estimated $100 per pole to have the connections placed to turn on the lights and the town is in the process of getting the pole numbers to the power company to get the work started in time for the holiday season.
An estimated $10,000 value, the decorations are a welcome addition to the town’s holiday décor, which includes the town tree and nativity that are on the lawn of the town hall each year.
